The Secure Livelihoods Research Consortium (SLRC) is an eight year global research programme exploring livelihoods, basic services and social protection in conflict-affected situations. SLRC was established in 2011 with the aim of strengthening the evidence base and informing policy and practice around livelihoods and services in conflict.

The objective of the paper is to construct livelihood security index of the households by identifying the existing agricultural and non-agricultural activities of all the 120 sample households classified under marginal, small and medium households.
The study examined the effects of households’ livelihood diversification strategies on food insecurity in rural North eastern Nigeria.
